I'm thinking of picking up this lens for my 6D. I had it years ago for a 50D back when I was learning and had no clue about shutter speed, depth of field, etc. I was frustrated and sold it.
Anyway, I was awarded a three-day press pass to a celebrity convention and have all access. Look at my signature and you'll see that I'm lacking in good glass.
There's no guarantee that I can use flash and the convention will be indoors.

It all depends on how close you will be to your subjects at the convention...85 could be long enough, and then again it could be too long...you already have the 40 2.8, and a camera that is very capable at higher ISO, so you don't need anything shorter than 85 really...
