Beautiful shots! They are both year round residents at my feeders. I have a "Bluejay tree" most of the time on my lawn! This morning a small raptor, the same size as the Bluejays, had them all stirred up, but they were not intimidated. They kept flying back and forth between a few tree tops, and the intruder did the same. I had to leave, so no time for photos, or identification.

I had a similar experience Sandy, Standing in a blueberry field one afternoon and a Red-tailed Hawk was swooping over a pack of bluejays as they crossed the field, he was intent on taking one but did not have very much success!!

He did not come out as well as I would have hoped but because you say I never post mediocre here he is

Nothing wrong with Chickadees and Jays Jeff!
I too love the posture and colors of your Jay image, and it's hard to ignore the cuteness of the Chickadee.
If your hawks are like my hawks their hoping to pick off some young, less well educated ones. I'm currently "blessed" with juvi Cardinals and Goldfinches, although I saw the Goldfinch population reduced by the local Coopers yesterday.

Very nice shots Jeff. That's about the only 2 I have in my yard right now...everyone else flew the coop, even the Cardinals...
