I have been using the 7D MkI and S95 since each came out. The MkII is great, but the G7X is more likely to be my first purchase, to replace the S95. Awesome specs in a great package, if pricey...

My S95 has so many dings on it. The paint is wearing off. 2 of the dial buttons don't work (I think the delete and flash button don't work, but I don't use flash anyway). I have a hard time justifying this huge step up in price over the S120. Plus, the size :( Does the 10mm increase in thickness include the protruding lens?

Is that the kind of build quality on Canon s-series, which is pretty similar size to G7X?

Not so much bad build quality as much as the fact that I abused the hell out of mine. Be it snowboarding, hiking, partying in Vegas... you name it.

not to familiar with the Leica-Panasonic products. Does Leica make ANY improvements to the cameras that are beyond cosmetic?

I cant say for sure but I have heard the Leica jpeg rendering is different. That would be the only internal difference altough I saw someone else say that it does DNG in camera.

I'd love to see more sample images. Canon somehow managed to make 30mm worth of extra zoom and keep the same fast aperture while also matching the size of the Sony RX 100 III. Everyone is talking about the LX100, but I feel like the GX7 could be the real winner of the compact camera category.

A valid concern.

I will be ordering one but a week after it comes out unless I can find one locally where ever I'm at that week which is unknown. I could always just buy it and have it sit at my house when it comes out for a week and me wanting to play with it.

I'm with you on that one. I have an S95 and love it, but I think it's time to sell to get more capability! I just preordered one of these puppies.

I am really looking forward to a comparison test between this, the RX100 III, and the LX100. I hope a clear winner emerges so I can upgrade my RX100
