Had my 1D3 out in the Paradise Valley north of Yellowstone NP. These are the only two images of moving subjects out of 50+ even close to being in focus. Stationary subjects no problem. With the Sigma 100-300 and 1.4x TC. This lens combo works flawlessly on my 1D2N. 1D3 sent off to Canon.

That's too bad. I hope Canon sort it quickly for you.

Just ordered a new card for my 1DIII, aaaaand once again I get a card error. "Card cannot be formatted. Change cards" What gives? I got this card... http://www.adorama.com/TSSDH1030064.html (external link) Is there like a size limit on cards that the 1D can use?

Not sure about 64 GB, but I KNOW it works with 32 GB (at least the one I have).

1D3 and 1D4 do not support SDXC cards. It sounds like you can reformat it FAT32 (PC) and it will work, but it slows the card down.

A better portable solution is to buy the SDHC/XC to CF card adapter and put that SD card into the adapter, then put that into the CF slot and format in there. Then you can move it back to the normal SD slot. I wouldn't recommend doing this for critical works. I mean there is a change it could cause more problem later.

Exactly what does AF upgrade mean? If it's anything like 1DX or 5D3 AF system I'll take a day tomorrow to go there.

Great that you report this, as many forum members have speculated if the service would still be available.

I do fear that the 1D3 will drop off the list of serviced cameras relatively soon (perhaps in 2015 sometime), so I would advise getting the service done now rather than later.

That's another reason I am interested in a 1D4 ...

I don't think so. I have an email from Canon Service from a few years back and they stated that the autofocus fix is a lifetime warranty. Same with the oil leakage problem that a few of the cameras had.

Alright I got the card situation figured out. Are there any CF card restrictions the Mk3 has?

Just doesn't support UDMA, so money spent on those cards is wasted unless you carry them over to a newer body in the future.
