RAAF F/A-18F Super Hornets make a series of low level passes along the Brisbane River each year, as part of the annual “Riverfire” festival.

I managed to grab a few shots of these fast moving jets as they thundered over the city on a practice run on Fri 26th Sept 2014.

Cheers

Dennis

Nicely done. The people in that building sure have a great view.

Thanks for the comments, much appreciated.:)

Here are another couple from the same practice session; the Super Hornets just flew over our suburb on their way to Brisbane for today’s run.

Cheers

Dennis

Great shots, just wondering about the smoke/vapour coming out of the vents below the cockpit, obviously its not contrails from leading surfaces

nice shots!

@ jabtas, that's exactly what they are. The "super" hornet seems to pull moisture out of the air much more than the legacy hornets from what I have seen.

Hmmm, seems as the they are coming from a single point, rather than a surface, but ok I'll take your word for it
:-)

It's the leading edge of the strakes. See the first photo of the last pair.

It’s a bit of an ugly crop but here is some more detail on the apparent source of these condensation trails. (This full res crop has been rotated 90 deg CCW from the original).

Cheers
