This is a wonderful three mile cave system where Thorn Mountain Cave and Sinnett Cave were connected in the seventies. Among it's highlights are a very big and long (800+ft) room, hundred of bats, and a cool canyon. On the Thorn side you have crystal formations (did not get that far into Thorn). The connection between the two halves is literally less than 9in tall and 18in wide. It goes for about 50ft with many right angle turns and I had to go through places upside down, sideways, and with my helmet off.
This was my first cave photo trip since March and it was AWESOME!
From far to near: Maria Rolen, Holly Sauvageot, Lori K., and Katie M. in the Big Room. This is about 400ft of the 900ft of room. ISO 400, f6.3, Canon 10-22mm lens. Each person had a No. 5 clear flashbulb with no reflectors. Coordinated with radios. I have a video of this shot I will post later. Took three tries, on the first one, one bulb fizzled instead of flashes, one the second one, one did not go off at all, and on the third one everyone went off though one did explode.
Andrew Mengele lit from behind with a No. 5 bulb with a reflector. Yes, those are bats around him. ISO 400, f6.3 Canon 10-22mm lens.
Enjoy the photos, videos later today!!
