Jim, you have some great images there. On your flash, how are you set up, above or below?

Theron, I look at those and see ISO 10,000 and shake my head... the ol' 7D sure won't do that, it is tough in the low light to get good shots out of 6400. Are you supplementing with flash too?

Below, right above the first monopod joint. Latest batch was using PocketWizards and hyper sync at 6400 or 8000 ISO. First time using hypersync, so I'm still learning.

Nice, clean images Theron. Looking good!

Pat, #2 is a great catch. They all seem a bit high in contrast or something though. Might try dialing that back a bit in post or in camera if shooting jpeg.

No, hypersync is a PocketWizard feature. It tells the flash to emit one burst at just the right time that syncs with higher shutter speeds HSS is high speed sync where the flash lets out a series of microbursts so the light is consistent during the time the shutter is open during higher shutter speeds.

Both are useful, but if you don't have the PWs, use HSS. You'll just have to replace batteries more frequently, and may not get as good of a flash distance.

Yes I'm using a flash on HSS. I have a 7D also and it is very hard to shoot ambient on these HS fields. If you can, I would use a flash. It does help.
