A friend of mine showed me this app for smartphones. It will show you what is in the sky where its pointed. I found a clamp for smartphones that goes on a tripod. Works just fine in a hot shoe mount as well. So I mounted phone in that clamp on top of my DLSR so it points the same direction and now its easy to find stuff in the sky. The app is free available for iphone and android. Its called Star Tracker. The clamp runs about 20 bucks. Makes it much easier to find those fuzzies.

Thanks I'll check those out. Didn't have anything like this when I was doing this 15 years ago. Goto scopes were fairly new back then too.
