Very nice Weja. I love how the background complements the images. Not easy to do in some cases. :)

I take it these were with the 1.4TC?

Thanks for the kind words Scermat.
Yes al these pictures where taken with the 1.4 Tc. attached.

Like your photo's of those big cats, nice and close pictures.

All taken handheld with a 5D3, they're captive birds, but still happy with the results!

Thank you for this advice. I did a lot of shots with the 2x TCIII. Performance with 2x is not so good. Because of that i sold my 2x TCIII and now buying a 1.4 TCIII. Your pictures are underlining my thoughts.

Did you do the micro AF with the 2x. It was a must with my lens. Or was it that the image quality was not good?

Can anyone give a tip for a good tripod or monopod to use with the 500mm f4 IS which is not too cheap!?

Yep on the monopod. Don't fall for the $500 hype. I think I have the 680. I like that the 3/8th stud automatically goes down so that I can pop on the 300 without changing a thing.

I personally like and have the Really Right Stuff.

What is your budget?

Al

Awesome Mike. I always visit this thread because this lens is my ultimate goal. I am saving up for this lens but I am back to zero because of Tamron 150-600mm. But still I will continue to save for this lens.

Thanks Peter. I have been checking out the Tamron thread myself and I completely understand why you went for it. An excellent lens in its own right.
