Which lens did you use beccause that makes a big difference. Was it one of the Canon big whites like the 500mm or 600mm?

The lens that never gets spoken of amidst the release of 3 150-600 lenses out there, the 50-500 OS in my signature. :)

I could just about sell all of my equipment and still probably not be able to afford one of the big whites (latest IS versions anyways).

If it does well shooting little birdies in flight, odds are it will definitely be ok shooting big ole humans. I can't wait to get mine. I pre-ordered late, so I may not see it too soon.

I am sure it will I used the 7D + 300mm f/2.8 IS with the Canon 1.4x and 2x for BIF so i am sure the 7DII will be up for that task as the AF is much better. The better the lens the better your result and a better lens will offer you the ability to crop as well. I also own the 1D4 and I am going to get a 7DII to use along side it.

Nice interview. PRM is quite hot too :)

He has some great captures, but the weather was lovely and sunny, not the overcast nonsense we have here in the UK whenever I go out :D

....Quite a few of the 7D2 features excite me enough to sell my beloved 70D (which I like a lot) and to pre-order. Not in any order of importance....

- 65 AF points instead of 19 and more fully spread.

- Lever actioned access to AF patterns as a one-step and without taking eye from viewfinder.

- Better matched with my 4 lenses, all of which are L. Especially my 400mm F/5.6L. I include my 1.4x extenders in this consideration.

- 10 fps instead of 7 fps.

- More durable construction and weatherproofing.

- Crop-body, hence maintaining lens reach.

- Second generation of 70D Dual-pixel sensor (it is NOT the same sensor as 70D).

- DoF preview button which is actually accessible and large enough to use (possibly the 70D's biggest fault for me).

- Faster shutter speed flash syncro.

- Easily accessed custom sets of camera settings.

I will miss the fully articulated screen of the 70D but not the touchscreen nor WiFi and I never ever shoot video.

I am familiar with the Canon EOS interface. I don't need to wait to check the 7D2's image quality - Even if it is exactly the same as the 70D, it's enough for my purposes as an amateur wildlife photographer. I have shot over 18,000 in 10 months though!

Examples of my pictures on my 70D.... https://www.flickr.com/photos/114775606@N07/ (external link)

Oh, by the way, I'm 67yo and life is not a rehearsal, so why wait? I want to be naturally and fluidly familiar with the 7D2 by next Spring when the dragonfly flight season starts.

This exactly, except the 67 part:p.

I'm going head first on this one. Something, I don't usually do (usually wait'm out), but I like what I see so far and that's good enough for me. I pre-ordered too, along with the grip and an extra battery. I hope I get mine in time to go to Conowingo Dam for the Eagles this season.

I'll let others here debate the merits of the camera, while I debate which image to keep. I just want to try this puppy. I'll be the guinea pig on this one.

Maybe the guy (forget his name) that outed the 1D3 will do a full blow review.

PRM interview was ok. He talked about focus more than anything. He mentioned low light ISO but not as much as focus. And he mentioned mwc and dwc I still think this is for them. Big target audience. But if PRM says it's ok I hope it is. I just hope he isn't a paid spokesmodel lol. VB pics on beach was sunny and looked staged. No background no net just beach. Again I'm a noob and he is PFRM

Try looking at 4:15, background shows they are at the beach, that is certain. You can see the volleyball court markers in the sand at 4:20. You don't set those up if you are staging shots, because they are a pain to set up.

If you really want to see the net and the other players, either go to 4:17, the net is there in all its glory, or go to 4:39 and tell me what you see. ;) And that appears to be nearly a 100% crop of the larger image that follows.

4:26 is a great reason to have 10fps too.

So the game could have been staged, but it was a game of volleyball on the beach, no doubt about it. :D

It certainly looks like a capable camera.

I'd love to see someone get both that and the original 7D into the same environment at the same time with the same lens(es) and see how much of a difference there really is between them when it comes to autofocus capability and reliability.

you are right my bad I watched it on my phone while momma was talking to me
just doesnt have the feel of a real game for me
and I havent seen a black net at a vb game but I could be wrong
and the background is clean and empty?
looks like he said dive here or spike here
and the spike with the forearm isnt how they spike in vb IMHO
looks like a model shoot imho
but I could be wrong
doesnt look like a real game where they move just anywhere
but 2 person vb is pretty easy
you can tell who is gonna hit it most all the time

just my take on the situation
it looks like a commercial IMHO
not in the field work

I may not have the eye for a camera but I do IMHO have an eye for sports and what happens
36 years a coach and both my daughters played all sports in hs and 1 in college

this and a dollar will buy you a coke

Doesn't really matter, does it? Over the past few weeks, you've shown your disdain for this camera...no matter what anyone said.
