Sounds promising that the 7D metering might be the best yet. With both IR and RGB metering at its disposal, perhaps the days of always adding 1/3 or 2/3 EC might be over.

butterfly2937 Cream of the Crop ![]() More info | Well I just got confirmation when the setting are enabled as I posted earlier the active AF point will blink red continuously when using the AF-on button to track your subject. They never stop blinking until you disable the feature in the menu. This is an improvement over the 1DX work around. This was very good to hear.

The entire viewfinder lights up in red, not just the single AF point you may have selected. So if you add grids, all those nice configurable settings that you can now see in the viewfinder, the level, etc, they all flash in red too. Your viewfinder will glow red. It will almost take over to the point of distracting you from what you really are wanting to shoot. Past Equipment | My Personal Gallery

LOL Please report back once you get your hands on this camera. The LCD display and single LED light to light up that display is the same for all the bodies that have it. You don't have to wait for reviews, just read all the threads out there where people complain about dark/low light shooting and the LCD overlay. There aren't 65 individual red laser LEDs aimed at each AF point to only light that section up, there is 1 (or a small cluster that act as 1, unfortunately. That is what is different from your 1D4. You have AF points etched into your screen, and each one has an LED assigned to it. Past Equipment | My Personal Gallery

I can imagine that with so little time to see the image I'm chasing and so much time with Starwars battle scenes in front of my eye, I will have image retention of the final Death Star battle scene burnt into my retina and have missed my quarry Call me Amanda please

From what I understand that is not the case on the 5D3. Does this exact option appear on the 5D3 or 1dx? You are correct about the 5D3, it is a real problem, and there is no way to turn it on.

There is a workaround, but it requires you hitting your DOF button with one of your other fingers to force the AF point to flash for you, even if you have AI Servo on. butterfly2937 Cream of the Crop ![]() More info | When I called and talked to the canon techs they claim the way it works on the 7DII is brand new and better than the work around on the 1DX. Both techs also mentioned it is very likely this fix will be in other future models. I hope there really is some improvement. Both techs did confirm that the active AF points will flash red continuously if you want them to so you can easily see your focus point in low light AI servo with AF-on.
