My set up for tomorrows session is up. 4 light set up, 2 flash heads bare in the back from rim, 1 inside the soft box cam left. Flash bare using wall for camera right fill. this may change if i can find my other soft box holder. That said, current lighting set up on left, result shot on the right.

Excellent shots Tony! Thank you for posting them. :)

What filters did you use on the camera? Was the second device a spotting scope?

Did you use Live View for focusing/viewing or were you able to use the view finder with the filters you used?

Did you use the same ISO, shutter speed and f/stop for all the pictures?

Sorry for so many questions

Thank you

thanks:
I used a Thousand Oaks glass filter on the 5D2 and a DIY mylar of the 7D, that is not a spotting scope, that is the 7D with the 70-200 mm :

IMAGE: http://tonyniev.smugmug.com/Astronomy/Astrophotos/i-WQbsX6Q/0/XL/DSC04765-XL.jpg

on focusing I normally just do auto focus and then set the lens on manual and shoot, for the 5D2 I went on live view focus final adjustments using magnifier and a Hoodman loupe/magnifier for final adjustments.I used the same setting except I adjusted at maximum thus half of the collage is darker. I synch the adjustments in LR on the two sets .
settings
Camera Canon EOS 5D Mark II
ISO 640
Focal Length 400mm (400mm in 35mm)
Aperture f/7.1
Exposure Time 0.0012s (1/800)

DIY mylar solar filter on Cokin glass filter holder
