Thanks Paul for sharing this photo to show us the size of this tiny insect
it needs the MP-E 65 macro lens or some tubes with the 100mm macro lens

 I think our Paul is reasonably covered for adequate macro gear ;)

And Paul thanks for showing the perspective - always helpful

That was on the 100mm macro, with 3 tubes, though not at closest focusing distance. :)

Cheers guys.

Paul.

Post some shots from 50 1.4 lens

Your wish is my command ..

Actually I am glad you brought up the 50mm 1.4, it has lain in my bag unused for some time now, so took it out to a local Botanic garden this morning and took a mix of shots with it as I assume you want to see what it is capable of with the 70D?

Apologies to everyone else for quantity of shots to follow if not interested in the 50mm 1.4

Whilst at the Botanical garden I was glad I took my 70-200 and 1.4 extender as I saw this little fellow fishing away quite successfully. :D

Haven't really nailed down the settings as I want them yet, but I'm quite impressed how sharp this is with the 18-135 lens.

Welcome to Club 70D Tobahl

Lovely shots all ~

Gus - envious of your Kingfisher shots - and that very first flower shot to posted might related to one of my favourite flowers... which I can never seem to remember!

Edit: ok, it reminded me of Plumeria... yours is not plumeria but is a lovely shot

Thanks Will .. I smile every time I look at the Kingfisher shots, I've just been going through the rest of them too .. am very happy with them and also the 70-200 and 1.4x. I spent a bit of time with the combo yesterday dialing them in on MFA and then to have the opportunity to get the Kingfisher today even in overcast conditions was really gratifying.
I don't know the type of flower you refer to, I should have paid more attention as I'm sure they had name tags up for the different plants.

Cheers
Gus

Sometimes, I get the feeling that I shouldn't go out...

You know, sometimes, you just get that feeling. Dunno why or what makes me feel this way...

I mean, just look at it. Clear, calm night. Not a breeze on my leaf. Safe as houses (and yes, I know I have one on my back...) Surely everything is ok?
