I thought it was something interesting to think about, and something that doesn't come up often. Made me also start to think about 4k video, and wondering if Canon is looking to get 4k capabilities into DSLRS. There's always something on the horizon, and it's not like I see a real good public roadmap from canon talking about where they are going and what's around the corner.

How good is the system though? Longest lens I can see is 200mm, are the lenses high quality? They'd better be for 28mp!

Glad you hate the violence and agree 100% about how confrontational some get on websites like this. Having said that most here are great and its easy enough to avoid the smart ass by ignoring or pointing it out.

I also agree about the samsung, looks great.

I think your initial post asks about go pros, phones etc--

Go Pros are specialised(wide angle tough video/stills camera), phones are getting better but dslrs can almost do it all when it comes to photos. Lenses from fisheye to 1200mm, many frames per second tracking, great image quality, creative lighting systems with flash etc. It probably costs more to develop a new dslr than 5 new model phones.

I also think as a generation we are spoilt by tech. 5 years is a lot in the electronics game, but I hear and see many saying such and such is bad when a new model comes in.

A canon 1ds can still take lovely photos, but the 1dx is of course better, does this make the 1ds less than it was?
