Well I tried to upload a photo but I can't get to load right so will try to post the link. This is one off my new lens, I shoot handheld so a little out of focus but thought was cute.

A few from Clingman's Dome in the Smoky Mountains.

Really nice photos. The 70-200 seems to be a really good focal length range for the Smokies / Blue Ridge mountains. Well-portrayed!

Images look a little soft... did you use a tripod? Was IS on or off during the shot?

I agree on the softness. I guess that he probably used f22 and f32 to increase the DOF, but that can lead to diffraction which will also reduce sharpness. I haven't ever really put it to the test with this lens as I don't recall ever stopping down beyond f11 except when there has been a major light source (the sun) in the image somewhere, and absolute sharpness hasn't been the most important factor.

Probably better to use a wider aperture and accept a little less DOF.

Growing old disgracefully!

Long exposure shots with an ND filter, long lens, and f22 is a stew of potential failure points. Cheap filters hurt sharpness, longer lenses are subject to minute vibrations if not locked down securely, and as mentioned above the I'll effects of diffraction.
