on a mirrorless camera with Focus peaking this lens is SHARP.... on my canon 5d MKIII its very hard to get the focus @ f/2.2 through the optical Viewfinder.

Okay, i just realize that the Petzval lens and focus peaking in DARK areas is not good... lol the peaking just doesn't seem to be effective in low light....

i got these cool shots but wasn;t able to get the swirly effect.... i'll also be using this LENS for FUN and conversation... not for professional use at all

here they are... all at f/2.2

interesting lens. I'm not a fan of the wavy stuff in the bokeh, but the other photos are quite nice. A bit too expensive for my taste and I can get similar effects with my lens babies, but if it were half the price I'd probably get one. It's just such a special use that it would not make sense for me right now to spend $600 on it. Though I'd love to see the looks of people when I show up with a brass pipe attached to my camera, LOL

40D, 5D3, a bunch of lenses and other things

I like the cat image - I suppose it was made without much processing?
I need to use my DIY Petzval more, it is in the bag, but I did not find time and light.

Nice looking, but very expensive toy.
When it comes to photography, I would rather buy some real vintage lenses like Helios 40-2.

Without focus confirmation, my eyesight isn't good enough through the viewfinder to nail the manual focus. I'd be stuck with using Liveview at 10x, I think, and stationary objects...at f2.2 anyway. So that's what's kept me away from the lens.

Okay, i took my X-T1 and Petzval to Times Sq. (of all places) and snapped a few shots... overall this lens is Center Sharp with the Focus Peaking....

Focus Peaking in bright light performs AMAZINGLY... low light so so much on the X-T1....

Here are a few:

Overall, this lens performs pretty sweet... people were wandering what was this Shiny Gold thing on my camera, though... lol
