I'm not sure what happened to the "Next Generation". They aren't any too obvious on the Domke web site.

Good bags help me work better and get more photos.

Thanks Mike. I am not used to paying such high prices. I will pass.

I was shocked at the prices and Amazon quotes a 5 week delivery time. Something is very wrong in Domke land, I think. Maybe the whole idea bombed badly and Domke isn't sure what to do about it. You can get them sooner at places like B&H but the prices-good grief! Too bad, I thought the idea behind them was kinda neat.

Well, I went ahead and bought one. It was an impulse purchase. You can find my review here:

Not a bad bag but not a great one, either.

Yeah, aren't those prices absurd? But I do like the bag, even if I blew up my credit card to get it.

My old style F-1X was costly enough... the new bags are hmmmmmm well, I wouldn't say out of my price range, but they don't seem cost effective. I love my F-1X..... what a great bag. Add the US Post Office shoulder pad and you're set.

I saw several of these bags yesterday, and as the baby-boomer owner of four Domke/Safrotto bags these bags are as far away from the original concept as you can get. They're pretty horrible; heavy and boxy and brightly colored.

If you want the original soft canvas designs get a Safrotto from eBay - they are up to the quality of the old Domkes.

I feel terrible about all of this negative feedback.
I have owned SEVERAL domke products over the last ten years.

But it's as if they put ZERO emphasis on style, which isn't everything. But c'mon. These "new" bags appear to be from the 70's.
Add in the price and boom, don't expect to sell many.

Then they're being true to their heritage - Jim Domke came up with the Original Domke Bag (later known as the F2) in the '70s, when the Philadelphia Inquirer offered their photogs a sum of money to get the bags they really wanted. His was a hit with the rest of the staff, and later with PJs all over.

I'm happy with my current stock of Domke bags; I'm sure they'll outlive me, so I won't need to get any of the Next Generation.

Don't mind the look (there are worse bags) but would like a slot for a thin laptop.
