Anyone list on Thumbtack.com?

I came across it, looks legit, some web articles say it will be the next YELP for service providers. Placing an ad is free, just wondering if anyone has used it?

I'm also curious if anyone has any information about this service.

I listed a couple of months ago. I think it's a relatively new service so I don't know if it's going to actually take off or not. They do e-mail you when a potential client is looking for the service you offer so that you can send them a message or quote. On the plus side, there are no "catches" or upsells....it's just simply a sight to list your services on. I've found no actual downside to it other than it may waste a bit of your time if it doesn't take off.

I think it depends on where you are. I am too rural to help someone like me, someone in a big city might find it useful.

I spent 20 bucks and never got a lead, so I got out.

Ive gotten a few jobs from it, that have lead to getting other jobs that weren't listed on the site. Beware though, there a a number of price shoppers who will simply see what everyone bids and then cancel...leaving you out your bid credits ($)

Been on there for about three months or so now. I've booked three weddings and a couple of other events as well. About $4K or so in bookings off $400 spent on bid credits. I'll take that return all day long.

It was a waste of time for me. It's not worth the pay to bid structure for me. I submitted a bunch of bids and didn't even get a response. Odds are, even one person would respond (despite my lack of talent).

When I asked why they think it was not working, the customer service rep said "add some reviews, our site visitors love reviews". So, I had some of my past clients add some reviews. (7 to be exact). Nothing. So, I asked customer service again and their response was "add more reviews"

One thing I'll give them, when you quit their service, the do give you a refund immediately

I was testing the water with this service and I think it's a waste of time as well. Sure 1 out of every 10 photographers will probably get work from it, but I am always very skeptical about these types of services.

I'd like to see a service set up where you get leads and then once you are hired and the job is complete you pay for the service. Obviously that would be a hard concept to push but it just seems like it'd be more fair to the end user looking for work.

To many areas for fraud to happen in this scenario..The controls would probably have to be to intrusive to make sure everyone was on the up and up..turn folks off from the service.

Signup up for this right after reading about it.

Had 2 request come in and not even 5 hours later they where gone "one said canceled other said she had found some one" . Also seen you have to buy credits to reply to the request.

but I am not going to pay to reply so just deleting my account.

If you contact the, they will refund those credits.
