3.2 - 5 seconds shouldn't be that soft. What are you using for a tripod and how was it set up?

That's cool. Reminds me of Morticia Addams.
If I may offer a suggestion.If you use the second curtain with the flash you'll get the "trail" above the petal giving it more of a falling down motion.
Just my 2 cents worth, so many are far more talented than I.
