You'd think the top of the line PS cameras at $800 from Sony or Canon would have a time lapse features, but unfortunately no.

Are there any PS cameras with a good sensor that can do time lapse photography @ 12mp+ ?

I don't know that you would call it a P&S but the Fuji X-T1 has this built-in. Use a nice MF lens since AF won't make any difference anyway.

Fuji convert - Ping me if you have any Fuji gear or legacy glass you're moving.

chdk is like Magic Lantern for Canon Powershots. It allows you to run scripts including time lapse. I have used it for my s95 without any problems. Don't know why you need 12mp, 1080 is about 2mp. I tend to shoot time lapse in small jpeg if I get framing right.

edit: link: http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK (external link). Also answered my own question, 12MP for other non time lapse uses...

Huge?

We have very different definitions of huge. While the X-T1 is shaped like an slr, it is quite a bit smaller and lighter.

I used to run chdk on my old canon s3 and now run magic lantern on my 50d purely for timelapse and alway shoot full resolution, the ability to pan and zoom within the timelapse is magic :)

Yeah with the Sony RX100iii you have to buy the Sony PlayMemories App for timelapse but now that is in either the 2cd or 3rd gen it does a decent job.
CHDK works well on the G1X mk 1 but not yet on the mk 2 but a $13 ebay intervalometer will work with the G1X Mk II.
Canon has finally built in intervolometer function in the 7Dii.
Forgot to add that one of my fav Sony's is the RX10 and it can't use the sony apps :(

Pretty sure my Lumix LX7 does it just fine. Eek, never mind it's only 10mp.

Sony A7ii and a Ricoh GR II with just about no skill
