What about the Tokina 16-28mm f2.8 ? Then you could use it on your 5D and the AF works on the A7 (but slowly)
Good suggestion. Definitely a consideration - that is a sharp lens. A while back I watched a Dave Dougdale youtube video where he was choosing between the Tokina and the Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II. Although the Tokina was sharper there was some fly-in-the-ointment issue with the Tokina that made him go with the Canon. I need to re-watch that to see what his concern was. It's definitely a nice low-cost option, so thanks for suggesting it.

David, the 14-24 + canon adapter for aperture control + ND throttle + A7r is an interesting combination. I'm using the ND throttle for long exposures on the Rokinon 14, and technically should work with the 14-24, but you dont get any aperture control. Quite pleased with the ND throttle (variable ND filter / EF -> nex mount).
I might be able to borrow the 14-24, but would need to get a nikon to EF adapter with aperture control to test. I've definitely been eyeing that lens because I really do love 14mm.
Cool info and awesome shot! I'm with you on 14mm. I had the 14L II and absolutely loved it, but eventually sold it because, while I do love 14mm, it's not the easiest focal length to shoot and I had other priorities. However, a 14-24mm offers more usability for varying situations.
Speaking of the Rokinon 14mm, I have given much thought about that as well for a nicely-priced/very high image quality solution. If I only wanted it for landscapes I would probably go that route (for 14mm) as I've seen plenty of stunning landscape work with that optic. But from all I've read it just doesn't do as well at f/2.8.
