Yesterday marked the end of an era for the aviation world. KLM was the last commercial operator of the McDonnell Douglas MD-11. The aircraft flew in as KLM671 and left as KLM672 back to Amsterdam. Lot's of planning was done, lots of enthusiasts came out for photos including me!

Here are a couple of them, they stopped especially for us so we have a chance to get some shots!

And a bonus Boeing 747 ;)

That 747 shot would make for an absolutely amazing print

Nice work. Makes Me feel old. I was working at Douglas Aircraft in 1968 on DC-9's when they had the mock-ups of the DC-10 on display. The time sure goes fast.

Sure does, doesn't it ? This makes me a little sad to hear there will be no pax versions of this plane flying; I worked on that project (MD-11) at Douglas from 1986-1989, in the wing group, as a structural engineer.

Nice shots, thanks for sharing them, and the info.

Mike

I also worked at Douglas in Santa Monica at that time.
