I can't believe that the only advantage is 65 more mAh, it must do something else. I wonder if the output is the same.

It probably has protections as a genuine Canon part. It will last a little longer than the LP-E6.

So, is it true that new camera models typically have issues? I read that it's best to wait for them to get the kinks worked out, versus buying day 1 and having to do firmware updates or even sending the camera back to Canon.

I have the itch to buy a new camera after shooting racing cars with my 5D2...

Just depends. The 70D was a solid release, they still have not done a firmware update for it. Something that was in development as long as the 7D Mk II has gone through so much testing and preproduction that I figure it will be pretty solid. Canon has always fixed issues with a recall or service bulletin if there is a major issue.

I just purchased a 7D2 body from Kenmore Camera (near Seattle). Here's what the LP-E6N says on it:

DC7.2V, 1865 mAh, 14Wh

I used one of my current LP-E6's while charging the new battery. The old LP-E6 worked just fine in the 7D2.

FYI - the charger is identical to the one that comes with a 5D3 or 70D.

I'm definitely in this camp. Canons do seem a little expensive over here in the UK compared to the USA, but that is true of most things. I once worked at a motor dealers and we sold American cars. We converted the Dollar price into Pounds and it seemed to work out all right for us (actually we made a stack on the H2 Hummer, but I digress). The 7DII with Grip is advertised at around £1,800 Sterling :( Mind you I am still saving up for the Corvette I hope to own one day.

Looking forward to the sports images from the 7DII :)

Call me Amanda please :)

I just did a quick test and was getting 9 - 10 fps and 27 - 28 shots before the buffer was full.

Call me crazy, but I actually like the noisy versions better! Same as how I liked the noise profile of my 6D at ISO 12800 and left a lot in my shots at high ISO. It just looks really good when printed!

pardon me, I thought the picture is kind of soft comparing to 5Dmkiii or 1dmkiv. or just slightly better than 7D ...

LR5.6 is not, currently able to. I'm hoping for an update very soon.

How long does the buffer take to clear out once maxed out with RAW files?

Thank you for the explanation! That makes a lot of sense!
