Hi,

I bought an EOS 5d from a charity shop for really cheap, but it won't turn on when I press the shutter button.
It could be a dead battery but do you know if there is any way to check its its dead or not?
Thanks.

When you say wont come when you press the shutter button its unclear what you mean. Is the battery charged. Does any information display on the top or rear displays when you turn it on? Is it powered uo but failing to actuate when you push the shuttet?

Download the manual! Learn how to charge the battery. It doesn't use AA's.

Canon never made a 5D film camera.

The "D" in 5D stands for digital, all EOS cameras that have a D following the number are digital cameras, so either you don't have a 5D, or you have a digital camera not a film one.

Can you check the camera and be more accurate as to what you have, it will make it much easier to help you.

If it IS a 5D, then the on/off switch is on the back, below the bottom right corner of the LCD screen. If it's a film camera, it won't HAVE an LCD screen on the back.
