WOW, i am shooting with 1 series body and even 300mm 2.8IS the heavy one handholding at lower than 1/300 and i can get sharp images, with 135mm i can shoot even at 1/20 handholding with heavy body and have enough sharp shot, if shooting with f5.6 and narrowing or more stops i get more sharpness, maybe i don't get very sharp at low shutter speed handholding if i shoot at f2 up to f3.5-5, but shooting at 1/100 up to 1/200,.... the lens is a toy in my hand.

I hope i can have this strong or steady hands until late age, i understand if someone is at older ages, but if you are not, why not having that sturdy hands handholding with 135mm?

Ha ha ha.. this is not weght related issue. I can lift and hold. But there are micro vibration which I observed in Live view in zoom. Seems I need to get a class on hand holding. share me some quick tips/links. I want to improve.

Honestly speaking, the only way you can improve your handholding is to carry heavy things, or use heavier body + lens, as i said, i a shooting my 300mm f2.8IS with 1D series handholding, and i was handholding 70-200 2.8IS mk1 in the past, all that made my hand more steady.

Also, the body will start to shake after long time standing still, so even if i can handhold that heavy gear, but i can't keep handholding for long time, so my tip is to rest between the shot, and mostly i try to point so quick after a rest then shoot while i am handholding strong enough.

Really i can understand difficult hand holding 300, 100-400, 70-200, but 135L? to me it is lighter than 24-70 2.8L mk1, and that also i can handholding when it was heavy the first time i bought/used it.

I can shoot my 135 at 1/60th all day and get tack sharp images lol.

This is pretty impressive. "all day/tack sharp". I should probably clarify my previous comment….I certainly got TONS of sharp shots at 1/200 and even a bit slower (not much). But, I did screw some shots up from time to time with the slower SS's. THis was clearly more often than with shorter FL's at similar SS's. In the end I felt that sharp shots weren't a given until I got the SS's up a bit..At least 1/300th. At 1/500th I felt like I could just let it rip.

its not so much the weight or size of the lens...but the FL...135mm, especially if on a crop body, tiny movements are more exaggerated than with a UWA or a medium length prime...I can handhold pans at 1/30th all day and get good results...but can't do that with the 400mm...the tiniest movement from the focal point will cause an image to go soft...

Just out of curiosity, I went back to my images that I shot with the 135, and everything was 1/300 or faster due to the light and shooting shallow...so nothing to compare to...but even at those SS, I still had the occasional miss...but I figure that is operator error.

I looked at my metadata stats in LR and it seems that with 135L (always handheld) I start at 1/100, but the majority of my shots are at 1/200-1/2000. An example at 1/100:
