Got very lucky on Sunday with some great fall color for the backdrop and a male Ruby-crowned Kinglet willing to flash his crown. I initially went down into this little clearing to see if I could photograph a California Quail that I saw scurrying around on the ground when three kinglets appeared and I said to myself, "I'l take some Ruby-crowned Kinglets". Sometimes your just in the right place at the right time with perfect light.

Brad meant to say "Sublimely, sensational colors", Dan. People would pay good money for that bokeh, too.

Great shot, but I would tone down the background a bit...it's draws your attention away from the beautiful bird.

Thanks for the tip. I will have to play around with it a bit tonight.

I guess that would work too.

A rare combination of good light, flashing crown, good pose and focus; well done.
