Per MoltenGold's request, I'd written him and asked him 'macro?', we've got 6 inches of snow outside and are already well below freezing at night and NO bugs. No sooner did I type and send that I walked into the bathroom and found a cricket; plopped him onto some pine needles to create some ambiance. So per your request MG via the MP-65 and the MT-24ex twin flash, no stacking, typical diffusion of the twin-

I'm now enjoying a tilt-swivel screen with the 7Dii.
One feature I miss from other cameras like the 70D, the A77, the G1X, is a tilt swivel screen so useful in macro and astro....though I didn't buy the 7Dii for either of those genres. Some may find is useful and I just wanted to see if I could. My 7Dii now connects to my Droid (the tilt swivel screen!) via the TP Link mini router. I connected the mini-router to the camera with a USB 2.0 cable, it will work with a USB 3.0 cable but the only one I could find at home is connected to my backup hard drive. Anyway it works and if you haven't experienced the DSLR Controller App you'll be in awe of all it can do.
Thread moderator forgive that 2 shots were taken with a G1X Mk II while the 7Dii was connected. OK hope some find this useful/helpful-

WOW ... I was wondering about a setup like this one the other day! :)
Can you please share more details ... like a tutorial maybe?

THANK YOU! :)

The 7D2 doesn't have wifi. The one perk to using this TP Link router as your "camera wireless provider" is that it has its own battery, and should be good for 2-3 hours of use, leaving the 7D2 battery to the other camera operations. It is extra bulk and hassle though.

Thank you for the info. It should work with any DSLR I guess, and not just 7Dii.
What model is that router? Google just brings a A/C plugable router.

Go to dslrcontroller.com, all the details and flash firmware is there. Any canon that has live view capabilities should be able to work with this, but there might be a few exceptions.

DSLR Dashboard is clunky but free, DSLR Controller is a paid app, but easier to use. Depending on which app you use, you will need a different firmware flash to the router.

Do you know if TP-LINK M5360 is supported? It has better battery life.

If someone wants to give me a crash course on how to use DPP, I'll gladly contribute! :P

Are, not sure this is what you are looking for but these guys do know how to write an instruction manual. If I am going to use DPP4, I will buy this from Artie: https://store.birdsasart.com/shop/item.aspx?itemid=396 (external link)

Photographer's Perspective....

2014 Breeder's Cup Championship @ Santa Anita Race Track... Last race of the day at dusk... 7D2 + 300 2.8L 'non-IS'... ISO 16,000, f/2.8 @ 1/1250sec... Converted 7D2 RAW file to TIFF (no processing) via DPP v3.14.41.0... Opened and tweaked in ACR and finalized in CS6... Not to shabby for ISO 16k... It was workable with decent results... I can't wait for ACR/CS6 to update their software to support the 7D2 RAW file... I'm sure I can get much better results... In the meantime, this procedure/process will do...

:D
