5D3 or 1D Mark IV

From everything I have read online and talked to people it really has come down to how much you shoot, if your upcoming pro the 7D2 but at this point if you really want to do this and make some cash there is no reason to not put out a bit more cash and grab a 1D Mark IV even if it is 5 years old.

To be honest I'd have that the other way about. I don't know any pro's that will be picking up a 7D2 for their work. Most of not all that I encounter are using 1D bodies. People even sniff at me for having a 5D3. My agency wondered when I'll be getting a 1DX, and I told them when they start selling my pics.

Thats what I mean, I didnt say it right. I mean like if your shooting high school or local paper then I see the 7D Mark II doing great but if you want to really shoot and get out there no reason not to upgrade to 1D. And after seeing a ton of stuff these last few days I have to say the 1D Mark IV for being 5 years old is still a hell of a camera for pros to being using. I think it will be a good body for a few more years for most people. Cant wait to get my hands on one.

When I had my 1D3 I was told by TeamSpeed that before long I'd be longing for a 1DIV. I could effectively swap my 5D3 for one now, but haven't. No idea why.

Plus theres the files and how they can be pushed and pulled in processing. Workability of the files is important too, and the 1D series files are terrific. Never used a 5D series at all, so I'm not sure, but I would imagine those files are very god for workability as well.

Wex Photographic have 7 used in stock now. That's a first. There has been zero in the last while. It will be mine.

Yea I saw that one too, looks to be a bargain, compared to a lot of others, not only that, but its not beat either.

That's the lowest price for a 9 1DIV I've ever seen. The only one I can get access to here for that, has issues with the sensor.

I can almost feel your excitement through the screen lol

I predicted that the 1d4 would drop to that level by January when the 7d2 was announced, but some didn't see it happening. It will happen, there will be more.

Patience will have us both a 1DIV lol January sales I'll be looking forward too for once without hanging around the shops

I felt like the 5D3 was a better AF and would hold focus better than the 1D4 (both jumped around in and out, but the 5D3 held it better), but you give up the FPS and the better body build. My Canon rep confirmed that the 5D3 had a better AF than the 1D4.
