New 7D M II vs Used 1D M IV

I think it's going to be very similar to what the 1D MKIV can offer but the battery life can't possibly be even close to what the 1D MKIV can offer.

I can't imagine the image quality is going to be bad at ISO 4000-6000. I'd say it's probably going to be right up there with the 1D MKIV. I'm also curious about how well this camera will track and focus for sports situations.

It's definitely going to be a tough decision but it's also going to be extremely hard to pry this 1D MKIV away from my hands. Once I see more field tested reviews then maybe I will consider it.

It is in pretty much perfect shape. Some wear on the bottom corner of the camera from normal use. ~80-90k actuations, so plenty of life left. My 1D3 made it over 500k. Great body, but I used it as a second camera on my 70-200 combined with 1DX on 400 2.8.

But now I am Nikon. And kind of wish Nikon had a 1.3x crop sports body. Seems like the perfect crop to me.

After taking a look at the high ISO shots Matt Granger put up, I think it'll do very nicely for sports.

I've been thinking about getting one of the 1D bodies (IV or X) but I also want a 400mm lens so I'm going to save up for the lens over the body.

Can you send a link to the High ISO shots. I take it you mean these or from the 7dMKII.

Scott Kelby did a review on the 7D mk2. He said it's an excellent camera. I got rid of my 7D because it sucked with high ISO. I may buy the 7d2 as a second body now.

Given what we're finally starting to see with samples like Matt's and stuff Arthur Morris is posting, I would think that the MkII is going to cannibalize the 1DIV market a fair bit. I've always thought of the IV as the next step from my 7D, but with the MkII, its apparent improvements over previous crop bodies and new features makes it much more attractive to me now.

I have the 1D4 and have been thinking about buying another. But with the 7D2 on scene, I'll wait. I'm only a hobbyist and not in any hurry.

Looking forward to renting the 7D2. If its IQ and performance approaches (or passes) the 1D4, then I suspect 1D4 prices will drop.

Well I went with the 1D4, picked one up from a forum member that had under 15k shutter actuations. I am very happy with it but I will look at the 7D2 to replace the old 7D for next year based on some of the enhanced focus performance for that body.

Yeah I happened to look at a some testing and the 1D still wins.... which surprised me honestly.

Nice! Couldn't really go wrong with either option really. I was almost tempted to get a new 1Dx until the 7dm2 came out. Did look at some of the used 1dm4 prices eventually still decided to get the 7dm2.

So if you had no choice but to sell the 1DIV or the 7D2 which one would you not be without?

The 1D4 at ISO 2000 shows a cleaner noise profile than the 7D2, as have many other comparisons. The 1D4 didn't clean up better simply due to not having quite a fast enough shutter speed to really make the detail crisp. I assume there are other ISO 2000 1D4 shots that could be used for the comparison?

Also for indoor sports, ISOs of 6400 or 12800 are pretty common, so that has to be considered.
