I like the MFD being cut in half.Makes the lens much more versitile.

If this is true, it's very impressive as the MFD on the 100-400mm was already very good.

Can't wait to see reviews on this lens and I'm the opposite of most, I was never a fan of the push pull zoom so for me it's a big bonus going to a twist zoom. Price is right where I expected it to be vs the sigma 150-600 sport. I can definitely see myself preordering this lens and selling off my version one as soon as B&H starts accepting orders.

Here's hoping!

Look at the "talk" about this lens.
Half the people love the push pull, and half loathe it. Maybe they took a no won situation (choosing one or the other) and made Lemonade by offering BOTH!
Of course I too am firmly in the "love it" camp, so I do want my one touch zoom!

if canonrumors specs are right, then the push pull is gone, and it's a tensioning ring to adjust the regular zoom

sigma 150-600Sport offers both push pull and regular

i'm wondering if they made this too short...200mm on the long end is quite a lot to give up to the competition

Looking forward to the reviews of this lens. I think it could very well replace my version 1.

From the link above:
Finally, according to CR, those interested in picking up the lens will be able to get it for $2,200, although the ship date is unknown. The official announcement, a formality at best now, is set to go live on Tuesday November 11th.

With the dollar getting stronger against the yen, I wonder how much this lens will be after a few months. Maybe some great street prices by next spring. Woo

This is probably the most complete and detailed rumor I have ever seen ahead of an official announcement. It's almost like Canon directed people to leak the information. I think it might be because they have finally considered Tamron and Sigma to be worthy competitors and want people to know about this new lens before they start buying up the 150-600s even more with the Tammy and to not start preordering the Sigma versions.

'and to not start preordering the Sigma versions' Logical analysis for sure. My skin in this game is that I've pre-ordered the 400 DO ii and I will be mighty intrigued (frosted even) if the new 100-400 is released prior to it.

I'm still happy that I got rid of my old 100-400 for the Tammy 150-600. Can't justify spending that much $ on the new 100-400 unless I was getting paid to shoot with it. Being a hobby photographer puts this lens out of reach.

While it doesn't help with exposure the extra 200mm will help with DOF.

It's a third of a stop...and, I'm not sure about the sigma, but the tamron is still f5.6 at 400mm... So you're getting an extra 200mm for a third of a stop, it'd cost you a full stop to get to 560mm with the 100-400mm and a 1.4TC

You can almost imagine the marketing minion at Canon "Can I send these pictures to Canon Rumors, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeese..." "Yes, we usually leak things 2 days before an annoncement!" :)

Considering Size and weight the Sigma, for me, is not a competitor. The think I always loved about the 100-400 was it's size, just pull the zoom right down, lok it and even fit in my slingshot. Pushing to 600mm would make it ALOT bigger and I already have alot bigger nicely covered.
