I use my 100-400L with a Kenko 1.4x converter and it produces excellent images. I did test several converters, including the Canon, before I decided on the Kenko.

Thanks for your good idea @Lowner! Then 100-400mm + Kenko 1.4x used AF or MF?

Could you please tell me what the actual kenko model number is. I just goggled it and they seem to have several models. Kids are already asking what i want for the holidays.

Why you decided on Kenko TC over Canon one? and which Canon version did you test or compare to?

Looks like it still extends, so it will bring in air. Maybe not as fast but it still will.

Yep, though you could say the same about many many lenses. I've had my so-called 'dust pump' for quite a few years now, used it lots and lots, and it has no dust on the inside of the front element at all. I've had others lenses that have had the odd speck, but it has never shown up on images.

The mkII has been added to my list for Santa. ;)

Unfortunately there is no photography budget for me for the next two or three years. It looks like there will be plenty of options by then.

Until then I will just have to improve technique.
