Agreed, but if you can not afford the new tool you are back to making due.
My 5D III can't match the shadow recovery of my a7R, but I do enjoy "making do." In many scenarios I can, with multiple frame stitching and multiple exposures easily outresolve and out-DR my a7R using my 5D III. So, even with sensor limitations there are great ways of overcoming those limits.
Naturally, there are tremendous benefits to getting all the data you want in one click though.
I love what you said earlier John, it's all about "learning to use the equipment they have and how to work around the limitations to express their vision." The "to express their vision" part is priceless.
