The software is the disk that came with the 7D2 camera -- the new DPP, and it reads the images and processes 7D2 product fine. The only issue was that odd EC minus number that keeps showing up randomly.

OK, dumb tech question ...

Should we both update our 7D2 cameras with both 3.14.45 AND 4.1.1, or does the latest one 4.1.1 combine these? Are both different 'animals' ???

Thanks for the help here, you all. :)

Just because the disc came with the camera doesn't mean it's up to date or bug free. The latest version of firmware contains the previous fixes.

OK, will go do that -- and tell my friend to do hers as well. Thanks for the info ... :)

There is a software update (two), no firmware updates for the 7D2 - at least, not on the Canon support site as of this afternoon.

Is auto light optimizer or highlight priority turned on in the exposure options? Either of those may adjust exposure to compensate for highlights or shadows when rendering a JPEG.

Ding, Ding, Ding -- we may have a winner here ... two winners actually, Update and the auto light optimizer.

Not sure if the internet is the best thing ever invented, but forums certainly are. :) :) Thanks you all :)

Sounds like a bug to me that will likely be fixed (along with many other things) in the first firmware update Canon releases. Happens with all new bodies as the first-buyers are mass beta-testers for Canon :D

I would be sure to report the issue to Canon so they can note it.
