Can't believe I missed the 5D for $375 shipped in the sales forum. Oh well. I did go ahead and preorder a ef-s 24mm. I've wanted something wider than my 35mm on my 7D. I also love the size of it.

MDJAK just sold his 1Dx for $3,999... I would've picked that up instead of the 7D2, if I knew about that price break!!! WOOF!!!

:)

JD, I sold my 5D on CL for that much a few months ago. It's a nice camera for the money.

I'll keep on the lookout for one on Craiglist. But I feel more confident dealing with people here on the board. No rush. :)

I saw that too. All I could think about was you when I saw the price for it, but it had already ended.

Really like the composition on that one Butch. Great shot.

Not a critique of your photo, but when I've taken shots of the lifeguard stations I always come away wishing the garbage cans weren't there. But, I never take the next step of moving them to (potentially) "improve" my shot.

If you do that, then you have to move all the bags and backpacks too.

Probably yes. :)

One or two backpacks might add a little visual interest and would "fit" in the scene. You could quickly turn it into an hour-long session, trying to get all the elements just right. Or, you can make a good photo of the scene as it is without obsessing about smaller details that ultimately may not be that important.

Apropos of nothing . . . my six year old wandered by as I was looking at the picture and said: "Is that the milkshake place at the end of the pier?" and "Look at the sky. It looks like a cold day. Was that yesterday morning?"

Gorgeous.

I have tried that same exact composition several times, but my lifeguard tower always comes out looking a bit distorted..Maybe too much wide angle.... What focal length were you at here? Because this is perfect!
