I've been watching the 6D prices for a while and with respect to historical prices, currently they're near the lowest they've been (CPW street is ~$1439 total, including the $200 rebate). I had been set on waiting until Black Friday to pick one up, but I've seen a few ads leak now and no mention of the 6D at all.

It looks like the rebates expire Nov 22, well before black Friday.. so I'm not really sure if I should just pull the trigger nor or not. I would be really surprised if the price actually went up for Black Friday, but I've seen stranger things happen.

Is anyone else in a similar situation? Just trying to crowd-source a decision, I guess.. :)

If I could get the CPW street price at Amazon or B&H, Adorama, etc.. i'd probably go for it now, but I'm hesitant to use CPW street without knowing the actual retailer. I know CPW street is all authorized, but unfortunately being authorized doesn't preclude terrible customer service.

Not sure about body only, but I know the kit has been lower than it is now (was $2000 AR for the kit, Pro-100 printer, and extras several times last year). Also Buydig sold 6D kits as 'refurbished' for $1900 earlier this year that turned out to be brand new with warranty.

Since these deals, Canon has been locking down prices with their MAP policy. I'm not sure I would pay a higher price now especially since there's no real good reason to (no spike in demand or restricted supply, yen to dollar ratio has fallen significantly, older technology, D610 and A7 are now cheaper, etc.). I'm in the market for a replacement FF camera but I'm feeling confident there will be better deals come December-January.

Thanks! I knew the kit had a deal a few times this year, but the current price on the body seems to rival the best of last year's BF sale prices which was my concern.. don't want to miss out on a good thing. I'll have to mull it over some more.

I bought the kit last week. With a $200 rebate it was $2300. Considering that the 24-105 alone goes for about $1100 new, I do not think the prices will go much lower.

I can't imagine anyone in their right mind buying a 24-105 new as a stand alone lens. You can regularly buy them here on potn for 600-650 fresh out of kits.

Unless you really want the 24-105 I'd swing clear of the kit. A lot of people dump this lens and the second hand market is quite low on them.

Under $1400 is still great pricing on this body IMHO. Yes there is newer and better out there but it will be awhile until another affordable FF offering from Canon is released.

I got mine as a refurb last year about this time for under $1300 shipped. You might consider waiting a week to see what might appear for BF and also never discount a refurb. You can save hundreds of dollars on a basically new unit.

Whatever you decide, good luck. You will love this camera... I certainly have.

Canon direct shows $1519 for refurbed 6D body. Add $600 for a typically priced 24-105, and you at $2100. I bought the same package new for $2300 at B&H.

yeah...keeping my eyes open for one of these refurb deals myself. I wasn't ready for it last year when they had them for sub $1300. If they have again this time around...I think I'll bite.

Right now the best deal, new, for the body and lens is $2035 through Canon Price Watch, and I believe that is through GetItDigital, and unauthorized dealer that sells new Canons with the regular USA warranty.

I frequently see the lens alone for about 700 bucks on Amazon new. Amazon sells the 24-105 for 1100 bucks, but they also show the other sellers at around 700-800. White box.

Slightly incorrect :-)

The street price deal we have at $2039 is NOT through GetItDigital. It is through a great authorized dealer with a full Canon USA warranty, a dealer that we cannot name publicly.

Back to the original topic... here is my prediction on 6D+24-105mm pricing in the coming weeks:

  • New from an authorized dealer (street price after the next rebate starts) for ~$1940 AR
  • New from an unauthorized dealer during Thanksgiving eBay Frenzies for ~$1850

And for 6D body only:

  • New from an authorized dealer (street price after the next rebate starts) for ~$1340 AR
  • New from an unauthorized dealer during Thanksgiving eBay Frenzies for ~$1300
  • Refurbished 6D from Canon Direct @ 15% Off -- $1291, or if we're really lucky, 20% Off -- $1215.

Add a whitebox lens for about $625 unauthorized or $660 authorized (street price).

These are our predictions only but let's check back to see how accurate we were later. ;-)a

Thanks for your input (love the site, btw)!

If we see a proportional drop in body-only prices as you expect to see in body+lens pricing, I may just give the 'street price' purchase a shot. :) This money is just burning a hole in my pocket!!
