Nice ones.

I'm still waiting for Adobe to update LR so I can process my 7D2 photos from Nellis.

I am still waiting too, in the mean time, I convert the RAW file using DPP download from Canon website. The one comes with the camera in the disk doesn't work for me (OSX Yosemite).

Convert the RAW file into TIFF, then import to LR, I know it's an extra step, but I like to use LR better than DPP.

What version is it?

I'm at work, but assuming it's version 4 since. I guess it will not work with a previous version? I should double check that.

I've gotta say that I'm a little surprised (considering how many photographers use PS, LR etc.) that Canon doesn't work with Adobe to get them up and running with compatibility updates to the Adobe software products before they start shipping the cameras.

Yeah... Unfortunately, it is what it is... All we can do is complain and wait for the update... Hehehe...

Newb question here. I've searched through this thread and google as best I could but I'm still having trouble... From what I've read I should be able to convert the 7DII RAW file to TIFF using DPP so that I can edit in LR (any more acronyms I can add??). But when I open DPP the RAW files are not supported, so I can't do anything with them at all. I can't even preview them. My DPP software is updated to what I believe to be the latest version. Any help?

Make sure you have, either, 3.14 or the 4.x that came on the disc with the camera. If you don't have either one, you can go download it from Canon.

Why would you want a competitor to have the same release date as your software, even it is free. One thing about Canon, DPP is free and they continually work it. If I were doing a world wide release I would want my customers to think Canon only. This probably relates more to new Canon customers.

I think only 3.14 comes with the disk. If you want to update to 4 then you need to go to Canon's site. You will need to enter your cameras serial number.

Oh yes, don't delete your older version of DPP. DPP4 will not support them. You will just get thumbnails.

I don't recall for sure; I just know I ended up with both. But, DPP 4 will only support the newest bodies; 3.14 will support everything up to and including the MkII. I'm still a bit confused as to why they have made 4.x a totally separate branch of the software though...I have difficulty seeing what's different besides the UI

Anyone have an everyday life photos to share? You know the non 400-1200mm glass of something other football, wildlife or planes? Those are awesome pics but not a whole hell allot of people have access to those things. The 7D1 thread is diverse as all heck, hope to see that happen here before we roll 200 pages....

Eric it is supposed to supersede DPP3 eventually, supposedly. If you use the arrows next to the sliders you will see that you can make finer adjustments.

Yeah I have both in the tray. 3.14 and 4. I must admit I really like the new DPP4 layout. NR adjustment response time is much improved. I miss being able to right click on the mouse for focus point and view sizes. You can't disable NR in the preferences so even if disabled in camera it is applied in DPP.

Outside of that all around pretty decent. The big surprise was that when I updated to 4 I did not have to restart the computer. Finally.

Maybe so, but it is certainly not anything new. I seem to recall similar issues with the 40D back when it came out and about every camera since. If the RAW format changes (come to think of it, why does it have to change?) then it will take the folks that want to manipulate it time to reverse engineer and program for it. Also, Adobe isn't just dealing with Canon but every other camera out there that has a proprietary RAW format.

I'd suspect the early adopters are sort of the specialists who mainly shoot these sorts of things, and are eager to shoot those more challenging things. Not surprising really. The "everyday" type subjects will follow, but I think the 7DII is targeted to the action photographer, so that's what we're seeing.
