Good point on the shutter button! I didn't even notice that before... I haven't shot with an a7 yet, but the shutter did seem like it was in an odd place. I'll have to wait I guess and see if they improved the low light performance of the 24mp sensor, I know it won't be as good as the a7S, but if it's as good as my 6D then I might just go with the a7ii :)

That's a bit of a bummer for me as it moves the shutter finger further away from the C1 button which I have set for focus magnification. The series 1 A7 shutter release isn't all that bad really. Doesn't worry me when shooting in the slightest.

I wonder if there will be an a7r II or if that might be the a9 that's been mentioned? If there will be an a7r II, then I wonder what differences there will be between it and the a7 II in terms of sensor resolution, focusing speed, etc.

I did see that AEB has been improved to 3/5frames on this new updated camera. I also noted that the 5 axis stabilization is lens dependent too.

More details, including S-log2 is incorporated in the new a7 II also: http://www.sonyalpharumors.com …on-and-new-image-samples/ (external link)

i actually like it because i always want to install my herringbone wrist strap like I'm used to with my 5D3 but i can't due to the position of the shutter. It's hard to push back my shutter finger when the wrist strap is installed.

Dont know about anyone else but pumping a Mark II out after what is it?... 13 months? from the origional is a little annoying for me. They should be concentrating on extending the FE line up - above anything it will drive down the price of the so called 'Older Model' with Sony then probably being able to undecut the used market too... naughty that.

After the lack of decent support Ive had from Sony over an invalid serial number on an A6000 id purchased, Id be hard pushed to throw 2k at them again ...even if the thing could see in the dark and make me breakfast - Love my A7r but things like this are starting outweigh the love for it.

For those averse to short product cycles Canon is your company. In 2012 Canon released their first mirrorless ILC (EOS M) and since then......

When I bought my a7 I knew full well there would be a new product within the year. It's just what Sony does for better or for worse.

For a possibly happier medium between the frenetic pace of Sony releases and the glacially slow pace of Canon, Nikon seems to be in the middle (D800/E in 2012, D810 in 2014).

I too am uncertain whether I'll ever buy another Sony. Not due to any discontent with Sony, but more because I still like the Canon ecosystem - I am hoping for a strong year for Canon with possible updates to 1DX and 5D coming.

"Sony says the A7II autofocus is 30% faster than on the previous A7." I thought A7 was slow, so would 30% make it nicer for AF? Like the IS feature.

Will A7 is faster than A7R in AF, so it might be nicer. question is why can't sony implement the Sony A6000 AF. Although I can tell that even the A6000 hunts at times.

Agree. I tried A6000 and it was much better than A7r. With hybrid AF on new A7II they should do better than A6000. Dont see mention of how many AF points with phase detect.

Yes, that was a well-documented issue going back to the first few months after the a7 and a7R were released. That's why I had the o-ring on hand in the first place.

Beautiful Omar! I had to pull that up from your Flickr page and drink in the view on my 32" monitor.

Thanks David! Yes it plays very nice on a large screen. Put it up on my 60'' living room tv and it was like being there all over again :)

Yes maybe Ive been spoilt by Canon , or at least used to the 3 year cycle - I only got the A7r in March or April , then they released the a7s soon after and now this.
its the price drop that current bodies will suffer because of this , they are treating them like Point and Shoots updating after a year.
Their support it terrible too
