the good thing when they drop the price of the older ones is, they don't have to raise the price tags of the new ones. Electronic life's cycle.

Thats OK if your not selling and in the market to buy.

it's certainly concerning to me, but I'll just have to buy older models. I cant drop 2k on a new body every year like lenses. When the mkiii comes out, I'll get the mkii. I'll just have to ignore the gear temptation, but buying older will save me a bunch.

I guess im the only one who sees the A7, A7r, and A7s as three different cameras. Just like Canon or Nikon might have a high MP camera, a speed camera and one in the middle. I just see Sony using the A7 moniker to signify mirrorless full frame while the letter as the type. This is why i do not get upset at the the announcements. The A7 II is an update to the A7 but not the A7r or the A7s. Canon is very slow in updating while Sony has always gone at a blistering pace. Buying into Sony i knew that. Thats probably why im not surprised but hey they did wait a year to update the A7. 1 year for sony? Thats like 3 years for canon

Same here with selling to buy.

I think its around that now though isnt it? - Completed listings for a used a7r on eBay are hovering round £1000 - £1100 mark or at around $1700 using interbank rate conversion - thats over £400/$628 after only 6-7 months

I know Im banging on about the A7r but im sure that will follow the A7 very quickily in being replaced with the Mark II (if it hasnt already been announced)

That makes good sense - very very smart. And if they're rolling out new versions every year, you'll never have to wait long to "upgrade" to last year's camera.

Last year weren't the a7 and a7R announced simultaneously? Makes me wonder, as Gene already suggested, that the new a7R will be the a9. And I wouldn't even be surprised if there will be an a9S.

It will be interesting to see how everything unfolds in the weeks to come.

Thats exactly what Sony want consumers to see

Why the a7S was released is beyond me - surely it could have been incorporated into the A7? and even the A7r in the first place, instead of appearing 6 months later as a "New" camera.

Not sure but Nikon's High ISO king depending on who you speak to is the DF or Nikon D4. Different cameras for different use. Why incorporate what you can sell separate? Sony isn't alone in this way of thinking and marketing.
