Bought this lens used, 2nd lens ever owned at the time. It is odd, the shape is weird, the zooming is pull/push. There is BARELY an info on the web about this lens.. does anyone else have it? I have never came across someone else who has it.. if so, some test images?

Mounted on a Canon t3i:

Take some pictures with it and post them, curious as to how this performs.

Used to have it, not really a fan. It's from the first generation of EF lenses introduced in 1987. It does have a few things going for it: The build quality is good and the focus mechanism is more robust than micromotor systems that followed. It's called an Arc Form Drive (AFD). It's not very fast, it's noisy, and the manual focus rings are unpleasant. But it is reliable and the focus ring decouples in AF mode.

The lens does focus fairly close, and can do 1:4, which is really its greatest strength.

You can find out more about the lens (And it's USM successor) here: http://www.mir.com.my …/EF80200mmf28L/index1.htm (external link)

I used to have it too and I liked it for the price ($100). Took some good shots at events. Mine was pretty sharp wide open at 210mm.

The 70-210 3.5-4.5 USM is considered a better lens

Actual images from a Canon 70-210mm f/4 lens.

Subjects and conditions not chosen for beauty or art but to test the lens' capability in variable room light with no flash.

All images at f/4.

It's worth noting this lens was priced at US $65 with shipping, around one tenth the price of a modern equivalent. The price was a major factor in making this purchase.
