Heh. Try a black car. Even worse! I finally had some luck recently, but it was a one time thing...

White cars are great at dawn or dusk. Just at the end or beginning of blue hour.

Thanks for the tip Joe, I'll have to give that a try.

Nice car Dean. Years ago, I had a black Dodge Daytona Turbo Z with black leather upholstery. It looked great on the day it was washed and waxed but that was the only day...and living where it gets as hot as it does here didn't mix with the black color either.

Remained peaceful here in Chicago. Really sad what happened over the night in Ferguson.

^ Thanks for sharing, Scott... Oh... BTW... I found that location you told me about last week... I did see the private property sign, but drove in anyways... As I parked next to an abandoned house, I noticed a few of the neighbors hanging out in front of their property... I chit-chatted with them about the beautiful view they have of DTLA!!! Anyhoo... I asked politely if they wouldn't mind me taking a few captures of the wonderful view and they said take as much as you want... So I kindly said thanks and took several shots... Before I left, I thanked them again and left on a positive note...

Hopefully this will result in more opportunities to shoot at that location... Thanks again, Scott, for the info!!! Hope you're doing well in Chicago and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!!!

:)

That's awesome Butch! Excellent approach, asking politely and establishing a friendly report is the way to go. I'm glad it worked out great and I cannot wait to see what you do with that location.

Thanks for the well wishes, happy thanksgiving to you and yours as well!

dean, you wont be able to AF with the 1.4xiii on the 100-400L, you'll be at F8, need a 7D2/5D3/1D. Or you can tape pin trick, which I have no experience first hand.

I know that optics are certainly excellent with the canon 1.4x iii, that's the one I use along with the 2x iii. Both are excellent compared, much better than the sigma TC I have.

I thought AF worked fine with the 100-400L. No?
And I don't mind being at f/8.
