Forty-one years of shooting; 4 medium format SLRs, 5-35mm SLRs and this is the first one I've dropped. I have a Black Rapid but the stap wasn't the problem. I borrowed my daughter's smaller backpack camera bag and I wasn't used to the two-way zipper. I picked up the bag in the hotel room and the camera fell about 2 1/2 feet to the floor. Two days later I did the same thing when I pulled the bag out of the rental car. This time camera hit directly on the lens cap. It funny how glass and concrete just don't mix. Unfortunately, my 70-200 f4L and 28-135 have a different filter size. I'm going to have to spring for a new filter for the 17-55 f2.8. It's still a pretty inexpensive investment considering the cost of the lens.
