//A similar story a few years ago at Sistine Chapel in the Vatican. An official is screaming at the top of his lungs: No photos! Nobody listens to him, so the guy walks among the tourists telling them that, but as soon as he goes back to his post the shutters stark clicking again.
Finally, there are museums in Europe that allow photography but want the tourists to pay for the "privilege", usually $3 - $5.
The Sistine Chapel was full of folks with GoPros on poles paying zero attention to the no pictures request.
The Casino in Monaco didn't allow cameras inside, asked me to "check it". Went to the check counter... it was a clerk with a bunch of cubby holes, hand writing a check # on a small scrap of paper. I just left.
