I lurked for a long time and then joined, since then I've bought items from numerous members. After the upgrade I've lost the ability to purchase things simply because of my post count. Now I feel like I have to contribute useless posts to threads only to be able to buy things from valuable forum members.

I could understand the post count to SELL, but not to BUY or VIEW. Is this something that can be reconsidered or do I need to start posting useless replies only to be able to buy thousands of dollars worth of equipment here again?

Don't feel bad, some old-timers are in your situation as well. I had the privilege of dealing with some awesome sellers on POTN. With the new requirement, the selection will be limited so I guess I'd start searching on FM instead.

Frequency Modulation?

just kidding, well not really, since it does stand for that. In this case, FM = Fred Miranda, another online forum that has to do with photography also.

What are the new rules? Buy and sell just disappeared, and if been here for a while

I have nothing against FM. I've bought and sold there a number of times. It may be personal bias or just the limitations of my personal experience but I've generally gotten better deals and less hassles buying and selling here.

i think it's good...it'll help prevent some scammers...especially blocking people from the want to buy section for 6 months, i think that's where the vast majority of scamming was happening anyways

if you can't be bothered to post 30 posts, then go to fred miranda and sell...

I think the new policy is a good thing too. To the OP: start a bunch of threads, and reply to every single one of us who responds.

I'm with the OP. Been here almost 10 years but usually just read and lurk. Have purchased items in the past, but now need 100 posts to even view the B&S forums. Well here is my next 'useless' post to get to my minimum...

I've been a member since 2007, and just when I thought I finally reached enough posts (30), the finishing line got moved over three times further ahead, to 100 posts. Sigh.

browse the critique forum, offer up some critique...just go to the image sharing sections, and offer a few compliments...

I think I'm way past the 180 days after registration, but I still can't see the marketplace. Or is it 180 days after the "new" forum registration?
