My new wildlife and birding lens. This lens is incredible value for money and would be 2-3x the price if Canon manufactured it. Sharpness at 600mm wide open (peaking at ~f8) is as good at the 300 f4 IS +1.4XII and only improves as shorter focal lengths are used.
The VR (Tramron name for IS) is effective, but like all long lenses for best results keep the shutter speeds up if working handheld.
The one weakness is there is no panning mode to the VC so this has to be tuned off for significant panning. Another oddity is the focus limiter range which is too distant to be useful in my view.

I've had mine for four months now and continue to be impressed with the results. Took it to Tanzania for a month and it stood up to the test well. It's great value for the money.
