Tonight I had a nice clear blue sky in the east which meant I could finally get a moon without the usual BLACK :)

Here is my effort with my new 7DII. A little noisier at 800 than I would have expected, but not too unreasonable.

I took two pics tonight of the moon peeping through some clouds, i think they turned out not bad.

Still waiting on my 1d to be delivered but we managed to get a clear night for some moon images. Shot with my brother's xsi, the xsi was actually the first dslr I purchased. It feels so low end after having used the 5d/7d and slow as to making setting changes. Cropped and touched up a bit in lightroom.

Brian, nice shot. Your comment about the XSi is funny, it still is my first DSLR and seems so fast changing settings compared to my G12

Nice and sharp, was that taken with tripod? as my efforts above where hand held so suffered a bit from shake.

Here is the best i can do with my D90/55-300VR hand held late this afternoon - hence the golden color.

Actually no tripod. I only have a mefoto after having switched to the fuji x camera, sold off the manfrotto a while back. The mefoto is not strong enough for that tamron lens. The lens has VC and I was able to keep the shutter fairly high and of course some lightroom magic.

Here is two of my latest luna offerings - in the first one i tried to get both the moon and the two crows in view, i knew i couldn't show both in focus due to my lens etc, so i focused on the moon.
In the second shot it is a general sunset scene with the moon in the bottom view.

The moon looks sharp there. Just need to photograph it while its closer to the horizon and get more reach! Maybe a 1.4 or 2x extender?

Thanks. I got lots of good shots with the xsi while I had it, it is just funny how after moving up you realize how much slower certain things are. I got so used to being able to keep the camera up to my eye and switch metering modes, or single/continuous shooting, or changing the autofocus. Not a big deal for photographing the moon, but shoot some sports/wildlife and that is definitely a deal breaker haha.

Last nights full moon around 9:45 pm captivate me, and with my energy level nearly full took out my Canon 70D with the 70-200 L lens and capture Luna arcing across the sky. These taken 2 minutes apart on fixed tripod and stacked together in post processing
(I had right hip total replacement surgery 5 weeks ago and just now really feeling near normal)
