So this first one was a spur of the moment pic. We live in a desert and literally NEVER get fog. Yesterday, however, a thick blanket of fog set in and lingered all day long. As soon as I picked Calista up from soccer practice, I threw her into this gown and hauled butt up the mountain behind our house to do a few mysterious forest/fog photos in the last light of the day. These were shot at a very high ISO due to the dark forest/foggy atmosphere. I've always had a 'thing' for forests - they are magical places to me.

This is a portrait of my 13 year old son taken using natural/garage light. My goal was to bring out his skin texture and freckles and do a high definition black & white edit. I practiced some new techniques to bring out freckles and am really happy with the result. :)

My little 6 year old, Millie... :)

These last images are of Mary and her son, Ashton. I have a running history with Mary - I did her senior photos, maternity photos, a fun vintage shoot with her, snow pictures when Ashton was little, and now a few fall images also. I've kind of taken her under my wing - she's a very sweet girl and has become a wonderful mother. :) I don't care how over-done the leaf thing is - I love it and will continue to shoot what I love.

Adding one more of my littlest one, Gabriel. He had his first haircut a few weeks ago and somehow, seems to be looking like a little boy all of a sudden and not a baby...

Beautiful! I like https://photography-on-the.net …p?p=17312224&i=i150240152 a lot.

PS. If you have time to add some of your photos to your home gallery here, I'm sure some may end up in Best Of gallery :)
If you have trouble finding the correct lens/camera in metadata editor (ADD TO GALLERY), pick something that is close. Those can be edited later, too.

Lovely set!

Not sure if I am impressed with #1 more because of the beautiful image or because this image was made directly after soccer practice :)

Thank you for sharing these images and the background on each photo/group.

^^This. No one does leaf pics like you do... in fact, I don't think anyone does anything like you do. Wonderful and inspiring, as always.

Yes! Sometimes I use real leaves that are on location and have someone toss them (the pic of baby by himself for example) and sometimes I use an overlay (the image of mom and baby together). The overlay I used is from Jessica Drossin, a great friend of mine.

A few more examples....

This one is real leaves that were literally shook out of the tree next to her, but several frames of these real leaves were composited together for the final image:

IMAGE: https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8420/15620506097_ec9ed8f08c_o.jpg

More real leaves that were thrown this time...

IMAGE: https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5602/15179638303_afc682b333_o.jpg

Again, real leaves that were thrown...

This one is a photo of a real leaf from this area that I composited into the final image...

And a couple examples using leaf overlays...
