I don't know what's cooler, the final outcome or the collage of set up shots you just posted! Really good stuff Joey! (Big Sigh)…This seems to be the time of year I rack up a bunch of "great shot" type posts while my gear collects dust…..

Thanks Cory I appreciate that! lol this was a first try at doing a strobed rolling shot composite where the vehicle actually was rigged and strobed while rigged not a like the past images I've done where the car was lit while camera was sturdy on a tripod and then driven out of frame then a image was taken of the scene and processed in virtual rig and then composited. This was a learning experience so it was worth it;)

Cory i dont want to hear that from you! So what its winter and cant shoot outside as much just adjust and find more creative and involved imagery to produce. Can I make a suggestion? Why not take a small part of the house and maybe make a little "product" photography area and concentrate on light in a smaller manor just a thought. You cannot stop shooting you must make due with what is available brother! Make me proud Cory;)

Heya,

Did some "birding from a balcony" this evening on the west coast of Florida.

Beer, cavenidish and 200mm F2.8L (v1) with a 2.0x TC on an APS-C.

Later that evening, put an 11mm lens on the APS-C and setup for some sunset stuff:

Below is a picture of my well loved EOS Camera Bodies I have owned the 1ds3 for 4 years, the 5d2 and 7d for nearly 3 years. I have no plans to upgrade them.

Between them they do all what I ask of them. At most events or days out I usually always have 1 or 2 of them with me. As a compact I use the Canon G10. I am a new member to this forum and I hope to post some pictures over the next few weeks.

Joey, thanks for the encouragement! I've got a few ideas cookin', just need to get out and make it happen. I like the idea of trying a bit of product photography. Would give me something to post in this thread!

You might want to also think of a project you can do that either has time restraints (52 week project either themed or unthemed) or a project that doesn't have deadlines that you can add to as you see the opportunities. When I had my fuji 56mm lens I started "project 56" which was supposed to be 56 portraits taken with a 56mm lens. I never finished though as I sold the fuji but I am thinking of doing a project 85 to make me take more portraits. There's loads of other projects you could do. The point I'm trying to make (badly) is that in times where you feel you are not shooting as much as you want to be a project can be a good way to keep the momentum going.

Edit - you could also checkout the worldwide photo week thread on here, a different theme is posted every week and everyone posts photo(s) related to that theme that they took that week

Got inspired by this thread to try some water drop photos. My setup is as primitive as can be but I think it worked pretty well!

Is it sad when the setup shot has more heart than the real one?

White umbrella set on the floor on the right is just being used as a slight reflector. There is also another bare flash top right out of frame aimed at the back of head.

Were you bouncing the flash off a reflector to the left of the set up shot?

Because my light stands are tall I had my umbrella setup on a little tripod. You can see it's shooting into a collapsed umbrella to control the spill, I didn't have a lot of room, and light on the background would make the wires show.
