Okay, how to MA a telezoom? :)

On the 7D I did the 600mm end, that is where the depth of field is smallest.

On the 6D you can do the wide and tele end seperatly, the camera interpolates inbetween.

What time on Saturday? I don't work until noon which means I'd be free until about 11am. If you want to go early in the morning, I'd be down to meet up if weather permits...

I can't on Saturday morning our friend will pick up the kids by 10am but I will try to be there by 10:30am.

Doing a bit more practice with this lens, while still learning my 1d IIn so new camera and new lens to get comfortable with. Trying to determine if the autofocus was fixed on my copy (bought it used) or if its user error.

I know with the bird the shutter should have been a bit higher. Cannot wait until we get a good snowfall to come back and find that coyote again. Still undecided if I will keep this lens after I photograph the eagles. Thinking I may pickup a used 300mm f4 and just use a 1.4/2x extender if needed. Always decisions to be made. Just gonna enjoy this lens and worry about what to do later. C&C welcomed.

With the Mallard shot, 1/640 i going to be decently slow for BIF. Try bumping that shutter speed up!

I've tested this lens on 6D and 7D.
On 6D it sharp and I feel that I get it sharp on 600 mm at f7.1-f8 on 6D but on 7D I feel that I need to use at least f10 to get it sharp. I know that 7D it's not as sharp in picture quality as the full frame sensor on 6D. It this right? I don't feel that I can use the tammy on 7D cause it's not in the same league as the combination with 6D and Tammy.

Is this right? Can it be so big difference?

A lens will always do better with larger pixels, if you view the results at 100% in the center of the image, unless the AA filter is a lot stronger.

That sounds good, but isn't always.

I am not a fan of pixel sharpness, as an end in itself. Having bigger pixels to get a sharper result is a self-deceptive illusion, because what you are hiding from yourself is the fact that you are viewing with less magnification when you view a big-pixel capture at 100%. If you want really sharp results, take your images and reduce their size to 50% or 33.3% with Nearest Neighbor - what you get is extremely sharp with little real detail, and lots of artifacts.

Yes, the 6D can make a better image than a 7D or 7D2 with the same lens, but it is not *functionally* the same lens anymore, even though it is still literally the same lens. It is now a wider lens, as far as FOV is concerned. You need to get closer to the subject (which changes perspective), or you need to crop, which results in an inferior image to the 7Ds, resolution-wise. You have to use the full frame of a "FF" camera to reap its benefits, in most cases.

Agreed. That Towhee is fabulous.

Here's a LeConte's sparrow I captured on Tues.
