Well first off is a macro reverse ring.

It lets you mount the lens backwards, thus turning it into a macro lens.

It's Canon EF mount on one side and 52mm filter thread on the other, perfect for the 50mm 1.8 if you have one.(or any other lens with 52mm threads.)
