Maybe this will help. My kitty, Squeaky just recently had similar problems. He lost about 2.5 pounds and felt light as a feather. He was listless and stopped eating. All of his lab results were normal and X-ray normal. The vets made several guesses which did not help. After several weeks, another vet at the same clinic said that sometimes a condition in the small intestine will prevent food from being absorbed. He said that prednisone will improve the condition and give him more energy. He initially received a prednisone injection plus SC fluids to help hydrate him. He really perked up, but after about five days he stopped eating again. After another injection he perked up and then he was started on oral prednisone. It has been about a month and he is almost back to his normal energy level and has gained some of his weight back, but it will take a long time to recover from the weight loss if he ever does fully recover. Meanwhile, I have been feeding him several times per day with everything that he will eat. He has expensive taste in food, but I will spoil him with whatever he wants.

AAAaaaahhh no!!! Poor baby, acctually it sounds just what Luna had a few weeks back. Blood good and nothing else abnormal, I went to a different vet she got some pills and she is feeling better till now. This moring she got her last pill and I hope it stay this way.

We will keep our paws and fingers crossed for Tiger..... come on baby you must feel better again...

Thank you both for encouraging reports. Tiger is doing much better; if a casual observer saw him, one would have no idea that he is/was sick. He seems to be back to his normal vocal and communicative self. He's showing appetite and able to hold the food down. We'll see after a week or so and see if there's a relapse or a recurring issue like Squeaky. I remember Prednisone, our late Mei Ling was on it whenever her appetite dropped. Tiger was administered SC fluid to prevent him from severely dehydrating, Cerenia (Maropitant) to reduce vomiting, and Famotidine to reduce stomach acid. He was listless during Friday and much of Saturday, but as noted, he's almost back to normal.

For a house cat to not eat, it is abnormal and based on my experience so far, if your kitties not eat or vomit up food for two feedings in a row, I'd recommend taking your loved ones to the vet right away. Kitties can get dehydrated easily and once their fat reserve is used up, then their liver gets overworked and could lead to many serious results. Early intervention is the key and I believe that Tiger benefited from being administered what was necessary in a timely manner.

If it's in focus, it's pornography, if it's out of focus, it's art.

Now that Charlie has come out of his shell and moves around the house, the easiest way to make him leave a room is to point a camera at him...it's getting harder to get good shots of him being...well, him.

I am sure! Very glad the poor boy is doing better, and good for you for taking care of him.

That was funny! Sounds like you'll have to start 'stalking' him to get the shot!

He's a real fan of anywhere or anytime he's getting attention

He's becoming more and more of a lap cat as he gets older, which is great :)

I can relate to that! My former cat Precious was so spoiled, she would always nag me to play with
her right when I was in the middle of working on anything on the computer. She wouldn't get me
if I was doing dumb stuff, just the important stuff, never failed!!

Nope. Just humane society mutt cats. We brought them home 6 years ago this week as tiny fur balls in a box. They are brothers and have been together their whole lives.
